- We do not operate servers that store your personal data, and we do not have a copy of it.
- Your saves, settings and achievement progress live on your own machine.
- Playing online uses Epic and Valve platform services, which process data under their own policies.
- We run no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking, on this site or in our games.
- We never sell your data. There is nothing to sell.
The rest of this page explains that in full.
WHO WE ARE
Aftermath Development is an independent game development studio based in Michigan, United States. This policy covers this website and the games we publish, including Last Acre.
For any question about this policy, or to make a request about your data, contact inepsa@gmail.com. We are the data controller for the limited processing described below.
THIS WEBSITE
This site is static. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, no advertising and no tracking scripts, and asks you for nothing. There is no account, no form and no newsletter.
Our host, Cloudflare, keeps standard server logs including IP addresses for security, abuse prevention and reliability. That processing is Cloudflare's, described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
The site loads two typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google and Google may observe your IP address. Nothing else on the page reaches a third party.
OUR GAMES
Last Acre is playable alone and in online co-op. To connect you to other players, the game uses platform services operated by other companies. Those services necessarily process some data about you. We use them to run the game, never to profile you.
| Service | Why it is used | Their policy |
|---|---|---|
| Epic Online Services | Player identity, sessions and matchmaking, and peer to peer connections between players. | Epic Games Privacy Policy |
| Steam (Valve) | Store, delivery, ownership and running the game if you bought it there. | Steam Privacy Policy |
Epic Online Services
EOS issues an account identifier for you and handles the connection data needed to place you in a session with other players. If you sign in with an Epic account, Epic processes that account information. If you play the Steam build, EOS can derive an identifier from your Steam session instead, so that you are not required to create an Epic account to play with other people.
Epic is an independent controller for the data it processes through EOS. Their handling is governed by their policy linked above.
What we store ourselves
Nothing. We do not operate a game server, an account system, or a database that holds player data. Your save files, settings and achievement progress are written to local storage on your own device by the game itself.
In online play, one player's machine acts as the host and communicates directly with the other players in that session. That data is not routed to us and we keep no copy of it.
This means that, in practice, we hold no personal data about you at all. If that ever changes, because we add a backend service, cloud saves, crash reporting or analytics, we will update this page before that build is released.
LEGAL BASES
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, our legal basis for the limited processing above is legitimate interest: operating a website and delivering multiplayer functionality that you have asked for by starting an online game. Where a platform requires your consent for its own processing, that consent is collected by that platform, not by us.
INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS
We are based in the United States, and the platform services described above operate globally. If you play from outside the United States, data handled by those platforms may be processed in the United States or elsewhere, under the transfer mechanisms described in their own policies.
RETENTION
We retain nothing, because we collect nothing. Cloudflare's server logs are retained on Cloudflare's schedule. Data held by Epic or Valve is retained on theirs. Anything the game writes to your own device stays there until you delete it, and uninstalling the game or clearing its save files removes it.
YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export personal data held about you, to object to or restrict its processing, and to complain to a data protection authority. Residents of California and other US states with comparable laws have similar rights, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them.
You can exercise these rights with us at any time by emailing inepsa@gmail.com. In most cases our honest answer will be that we hold nothing about you, and we will tell you so plainly.
Because the data that does exist sits with Epic and Valve as independent controllers, requests about that data are fastest made to them directly through the links above. We will help where we can.
CHILDREN
Our games and this website are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Where local law sets a higher age of digital consent, such as 16 in parts of the EU, we apply that higher age. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
SECURITY
This site is served over HTTPS. Because we hold no player data, there is no store of personal information for us to lose. Data held by the platform services is protected under their own security programmes.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We will update this page whenever our games or services change in a way that affects it, and always before shipping a build that collects something new. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
